Schull win British Schools Team Racing Nationals 2014

British Schools Team Racing Nationals 2014

Rutland Water  30th June  -  2nd July 2014

Twenty two teams took part at this years Nationals which were held at Rutland Water for the first time, light airs were the name of the game for most of the event, with huge shifts and periods with no wind at all, but for the finals a nice 10 to 15 knots filled in from the North East.

Schull Sharks along with two teams from Florida in the USA and a team from Berlin, Germany made up the International entries.

Schull Sharks first race was a lottery start to the event with the race taking three times as long to complete than a normal race with little or no wind for all the race, with Winchester College just winning at the finish, but this was the last race Schull lost, Schull went on to win there group and progress to the finals.

Schull were up against the USA in the Semi-Finals where they won all three races and progressed to the Final against the UK favourite Magdalen College where again they won all three races.

Schull Sharks for the third time in a row were crowned British Schools Team Racing Champions for 2014
